Very Practical Exercises To Lose Love Handles

By Iain Benzell

An astonishing number of people are overweight and authorities warn that this is one of the most serious health issues of modern times. However, many people that are not obese still struggle with excess weight in some parts of their bodies. Men especially often struggle to find the ideal exercises to lose love handles and often find that mere diet simply do not produce the desired results.

There is some bad news. Fat can never be converted into muscle. It is therefore necessary to first get rid of the fat before any muscles can be built. Those muffins at the waist cannot be removed by mere diet or exercise. It will require a holistic program of both exercise and diet. Getting rid of the fat is the main concern.

In order to get rid of fat it is necessary to follow a diet which is low in calories. However, before going on any strict diet it is necessary to ask advice from a medical expert. Many diets provide quick results but without a follow up program the weight will simply pile up again in no time at all.

Sit ups remain one of the very best ways in which to develop and build the abdominal muscles. The best way to do these is to lay flat on the back. The knees should be bent and the hands behind the head. When exhaling a breath, the chest is lifted. Oblique sit ups are a variation on the theme where the knees are allowed to fall towards the side of the body.

Bicycle workouts are another excellent way of improving the stomach muscles. While lying flat on the ground with the hands behind the head, the chest is lifted while the rest of the body is twisted towards the side. The right elbow is then brought towards the left knee and vice versa. There should be at least two repetitions of ten lifts each time.

A sledgehammer can also be used to gain impressive results. The hammer is swung in powerful blows to hit an object on the ground. Something that provides a bit of resistance, such as a tire is recommended. The body must be twisted with each blow. It is necessary to repeat at least twenty blows in each session.

Long term results can only be attained with long term effort, a healthy diet and a moderate workout program. No program can result in quick muscle building and it is certainly no solution to resort to solutions such as steroids. Unfortunately the stomach is one of those areas where men typically carry extra fat.
